We are fortunate at T&C to have a great number of experienced and higher level licensed coaches. It is vital to the health of our club and to the level of training our players receive, that we help teach each other.
The challenge to this is the fact that Soccer is a game of ego and competition. We encourage an environment where T&C coaches place ego aside and help each other. Equally we hope coaches are willing to accept help when offered. The fact is that even the most experienced coach can learn something new since the game is always evolving.
In the spirit of this, T&C will arrange no-cost training sessions organized and run by our volunteer coaches. These events will be posted at the top of this page. If you have any interest in running one of these sessions, please contact the Coach Education Director (firstname.lastname@example.org).
It is required by South Texas Youth Soccer (STYSA) that only registered coaches are permitted in STYSA sanctioned events or games. In order to qualify as a registered coach or assistant coach you must:
“Hold a currently effective Coaching License or Certificate (as defined below) or obtain, within one year of initial registration as a coach, a Coaching License or Certificate.”
A “Coaching License or Certificate” means a soccer coaching license or a certificate of completion issued by a course or training program that is currently approved by the STYSA Director of Coaching. The STYSA Director of Coaching shall maintain a list of all licenses, courses, programs and vendors that are approved for purposes of this rule."

Currently the best path to become a registered coach is through the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National “F” Course. This is a 2-hour, entirely online course intended for all parents and coaches of youth players. The cost of this course is $25, of which T&C will reimburse $12.50. Details for reimbursement can be found at the bottom of this page.
The course can be found here: USSF F License
The ‘E’ License is open to all who hold a National ‘F’ License and is suggested for coaches of U9 – U12 players.

• The coach must present to the T&C Director of Coach Education documentation showing the date and cost of the course (receipt) and that the coach successfully completed the course and received the certificate/license (show me the license!).
